Bolivian President Evo Morales to Speak Next Tuesday (2/26) In Boston
BOSTON—The President of Bolivia, Evo Morales, has just announced that he will
give a speech next Tuesday, February 26th at 7 p.m. at the Arlington Street
Church (corner of Arlington and Boylston Sts.).
A coalition of local community-based organizations has organized this event at
the request of President Morales--who is visiting the United States as a private
citizen at the invitation of the Carter Center.
The President is planning to speak on the following themes:
• the struggle to build a new nation,
• how the coca leaf represents the Andean culture, the environment and the hope
of the people,
• what the "rule of law" means for indigenous people and what community justice
really is,
• the new thinking on anti-imperialism and anti-neoliberalism
• the meaning of democracy within the sphere of indigenous wisdom.
Information on a press conference with President Morales and media credentialing
will be forthcoming in subsequent releases.
